Oprah Winfrey breaking into the organic foods business?

Its not all that uncommon for celebrities to cross over into food products, and Oprah Winfrey already practically owns everything, so why not? Oprah is thinking about starting her own brand of organic foods.

According to five trademark applications filed at the end of October with the US Patent and Trademark Office, the media empress it considering making the jump from magazines and TV to your local grocers with her own line of organic food products.

Those trademark applications were filed for the name Oprahs Organics. Catchy, right? We though so too. Oprahs Organics will reportedly consist of salad dressings, sauces, soups, dips, frozen vegetables and beverages, according to Today. In a separate application, the same brand name was also applied to a line of bath and body products including soap, bubble bath, moisturizer, lip balm, hand cream, hair products and other personal! -care items.

Furthermore, an application filed will allow the Oprahs Organics brand to be used for catering services. The final two applications filed in September and August are for Oprahs Harvest and Oprahs Farm, which reference food, beverages, agricultural and catering services, and not much else.

According to the Pacific Business News, the applications were filed by Oprahs Farm LLC, which was also registered as a business with the Hawaii Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs.

The trademarks were filed for Oprahs farm on Maui to enable the farm to grow and distribute produce on Maui and throughout the Hawaiian Islands, an Oprah spokeswoman said via email.

Oprah may be branching out because her TV venture with Discovery Communications, OWN, keeps losing money. However, Discovery CFO Andrew Warren said in an investor conference call last week that they expect to break even next year.

Plus, Oprahs worth about $2.7 billion, so maybe shes just bored.
