Summit Car Dealer to Award Oprah Show Prize

Douglas Volkswagen is the pickup location for a 2012 Beetle, a prize on one of Oprah's final shows last year.

A South Orange woman will pick up her Oprah Winfrey Show giveaway at Douglass Volkswagon on Morris Avenue tomorrow morning. Last year, during the show's final broadcast television season, Winfrey gifted her audience a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, which made her "Favorite Things" holiday list. At the time, the car was unreleased.

According to Chris Ng, a sale associate at the Summit dealership, each audience member who won the car that day was given the option of a pickup location. The South Orange woman chose Summit as her preferred location, said Ng.

"This [Beetle] is specific for her," Ng said about the car which will be polished up and put on the showroom floor waiting for the audience member, whose name wasn't released at the time of this posting. After giving the Oprah fan a detailed breakdown of the car's offerings, the car is hers for the drive back to South Orange. "She can drive off the showroom floor," Ng said.

Volkswagen uploaded a clip of the the Oprah episode in November 2010 (watch the clip, here). The popular show, which was cancelled in May, ran for 25 years on ABC. Winfrey left the show to run her cable channel, OWN.
