Oprah Winfrey has listed her Chicago, Illinois apartment for sale for 1.78 million - half the price she originally paid for it. The television star bought the lavish property in the Streeterville district of the city for 3.57 million in 2006 and later attempted to sell it for 3.83 million in 2008, but failed to attract a successful bidder. The lavish pile, part of a 1913 Beaux Arts-style building designed by architect Benjamin Marshall, boasts its own library, formal dining room, butler's quarters and a wine room. Winfrey has now dropped the price of the apartment as the local property market struggles in the economic downturn.

In her latest bid to draw viewers to her struggling cable network OWN, Oprah Winfrey is teaming up with TheHuffingtonPost.com to launch a new dedicated section of HuffPo in August featuring videos and articles about health, fashion and culture that have traditionally been the subjects of Oprah's talk shows. In a statement, Winfrey and Ariana Huffington said that they plan to combine resources from Oprah.com and Huffpo, but it was not clear whether Winfrey would actually host exclusive features on the website. Winfrey on Sunday delivered the commencement address to the Class of 2012 and received the historically black women's college's National Community Service Award. Winfrey was recognized for her philanthropic efforts, especially those aimed at education. Three students from her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa have been accepted to Spelman and will start classes this fall.
