Open letter proposes questions for Oprah Winfrey to ask Lance Armstrong

David Walsh and The Sunday Times have a few questions they'd like to see Oprah Winfrey post to Lance Armstrong.

CHICAGO (VN) After USA Today reported that Lance Armstrong plans to admit to doping in a Monday interview with Oprah Winfrey, The Associated Press said it had received a text message from the disgraced former pro cyclist, saying he had told Winfrey to go wherever she wants and Ill answer the questions directly, honestly and candidly.

Toward that end, another publication the Sunday Times of London, which has sued Armstrong for more than $1.6 million over a libel settlement with him in 2006 has provided a top-10 list of questions for Winfrey to pose.

In an open letter to be published in Sundays Chicago Tribune, chief sports writer David Walsh of the Sunday Times suggested that Winfrey ask Armstrong the following questions:

Did you tell doctors at the Indiana University Hospital on Oct. 27, 1996, that you had taken EPO, human growth hormone, cortisone, steroids and testosterone?

After returning from cancer how did you justify putting banned drugs in your body?

Did you have any sympathy for those rivals determined to race clean?

Do you regret how you treated Betsy Andreu, your former masseuse Emma OReilly and Greg LeMond?

Do you admit that your friend Dr. Michele Ferrari fully supported your teams doping?

Is it your intention to return the prize money you earned from Sept. 1998 to July 2010?

Did you sue the Sunday Times to shut us up?

Was your failure to understand Floyd Landis the key to your downfall?

Do you accept your lying to the cancer community was the greatest deception of all?

Why have you chosen Oprah Winfrey for your first interview as a banned athlete?

The open letter is signed, Regards, David Walsh, Chief Sports Writer, The Sunday Times, London, with the following postscript:

The Sunday Times is seeking to recover about $1.5m it claims he got by fraud. He used Britains draconian libel laws against us.
