Oprah Winfrey injured her back lifting birthday gift from Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry's gift to Oprah Winfrey for her 59th birthday proved to be a little too much for the television personality to carry.

Winfrey, who celebrated her birthday on January 29, reportedly injured her back after trying to pick up a flower arrangement sent to her by Perry, according to a post written by Perry on his official Facebook page on January 30 titled "I FEEL SO BAD."

"I like to send really large flower arrangements to people for whatever occasion. Well, I sent one to Oprah yesterday for her birthday," Perry explained. "She strained her back picking it up. No joke! Feel better Oprah. Happy birthday. Sorry. :-( Next year I'm sending her one rose. :-)"

Winfrey posted an Instagram photo of all the flowers she received and Tweeted to one user that she spent the day in bed with an ice pack.

"In bed with an ice pack most of today. Moved a bushel of roses sent by@tylerperry and sprained a back muscle#birthdaylove," she wrote on January 30.

Winfrey later wrote to Perry telling him not to feel bad for causing her injury.

"@tylerperry no need to feel bad, love the roses and got an extra day in bed. Can you say #icepack," she Tweeted.

Perry and Winfrey are longtime friends and business associates. Earlier this month it was announced that Winfrey's OWN network picked up two scripted series by Perry, a one-hour drama called "The Haves And The Have Nots" and a half-hour comedy called "Love Thy Neighbor." Both series are set to premiere on May 29.

It was announced in October that Perry teamed up with Winfrey's network. OWN will now serve as Perry's "singular destination for all new television series and projects," the statement said, adding that the channel had entered into a "multi-year partnership" with him.
