Oprah Winfrey was hit with a lawsuit that accuses the celebrity television host of sexual discrimination, according to a TMZ report on Saturday, February 2, 2013.

The celebrity gossip site reported that Carolyn Hommel, a former employee of OWN network, is claiming that she was a victim of sexual discrimination after the network terminated her when she got pregnant and gave birth.

Hommel reportedly was hired by OWN in 2010 as senior director of scheduling and acquisitions.

In her court documents, Hommel indicated that she was on track to become a vice president, but everything has changed when she got pregnant.

TMZ reported that Hommels tasks were delegated to other employees and was never included in meetings when she returned from her medical leave. The former employee reveals that she was terminated by OWN, one month after giving birth.

Hommel reiterates that her termination is related to her pregnancy and not on the fabricated a performance review by her supervisor, Michael Garner.

Based on the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, an amendment to the Civil Rights Act of ! 1964, an employer cannot discriminate against an employee because of pregnancy.
