Oprah Winfrey and Cheryl Strayed in 'Wild' Webisodes: Week 1

Cheryl Strayed.jpgPortland-based author Cheryl Strayed, whose memoir, "Wild," is the first selection in the revived Oprah Winfrey book club.
The big buzz in publishing was the recent announcement that Oprah Winfrey is reviving her Oprah's Book Club, in a new, 2.0 version. The first book chosen by the Great and Powerful Oprah? "Wild," by Portland's own Cheryl Strayed.

The Oprah's Book Club 2.0 is intended to embrace social media, the Web and other platforms.

So, as a preliminary to Winfrey's July 22 interview with Strayed on OWN, Winfrey's TV network, the first in a weekly series of Webisodes is up, on Oprah.com.

The brief clip (it opens with a commercial for another book, which is annoying) features Winfrey and Strayed sitting in Oprah's front yard.

Not surprisingly, Oprah's front yard looks pretty nice. Strayed reads a brief excerpt from "Wild," and Winfrey encourages readers to go online to share thoughts, favorite passages, and other reactions to "Wild."

Here's the clip:
