Jamie Foxx the Latest Star in Oprahs Marital Hot Seat
For somebody who's never been married, Oprah Winfrey sure likes to talk about it!
The latest squirmer in the Queen of Talk's "Next Chapter" hot seat was actor, singer, and comedian Jamie Foxx. And while the duo dished about Foxx's multi-faceted career, a large chunk of the interview focused on his romantic relationships -- or lack thereof.
Oprah asked Foxx the tough questions: "Are you with multiple women lots of times, or are you privately with one woman at a time?"
"Wow, this is crazy," Foxx laughed, then revealed that he's "a very loving person" but isn't sure about committing to one person.
"Let me ask you this: why have you not gotten married?" Oprah asked him, to which the star gave her a little dig: "I don't know, I guess it's probably the same reason you haven't," he said.
The actor explained his views on marriage after seeing is many of his friends live unhappily ever after. (He claims he only knows once couple that is truly happily married.)
"I always wanted to sort of be married, 2.5 kids, wood paneling on the side of the station wagon," he said. "When you get that feeling like you've fallen for somebody and it all goes bad, what it does for a man, it's like post traumatic stress I don't know if I'm built for marriage."
Oprah, who's been in an unmarried relationship with her partner, Stedman Graham, for more than 25 years, loves to talks about the M word with her guests.
Last month ! she told pop superstar Justin Bieber that he should wait to get married. (The teen idol previously revealed that he wanted to be married by the age of 25.)
"Rethink that, will you?" Oprah advised the 18-year old singer. "I think twenty-five is too young, I really do, and particularly for you. Because your whole twenties is about discovering who you really are, and you owe that to yourself, particularly because you are in the business that you're in. There's not a lot of self-discovery time because so much is already defined for you."
Bieber replied, "Well, we'll see when we get there I mean, you are Oprah. And you're telling me to not get married at twenty-five, I should probably listen to you." (Gee, that was easy!)
And earlier this season she chatted marriage with R&B superstar Usher, who married Tameka Foster in 2007. "I wanted to give her the wedding that she wanted. But I wasn't quite ready," the singer revealed. "I impregnated this woman, we were in a relationship, we were in love. I was taking responsibility."
When asked if he was faithful during the marriage, Usher told Oprah, "I was faithful at heart, but not faithful all the way. Even having a conversation with another woman, period, about matters of your relationship or emotions is, in my opinion, not being faithful."
But Oprah wasn't buying it. She asked the singer point blank if he had been sexually involved with another woman during his marriage.
"When we were separated, yes, I was. We were not divorced," he admitted.
Part two of Jamie Foxx's Oprah grilling airs next week.
"Oprah's Next Chapter" airs on Sunday night at 9/8c on OWN.
