Shonda Rimes talks Katherine Heigl snub with Oprah Winfrey (Video)
Shonda Rimes, ABCs hit series, Greys Anatomy creator, is opening up about her strained relationship with actress Katherine Heigl in a new interview with Oprah Winfrey following Heigls decision to withdrawal her name from Emmy consideration after slamming the material her character Izzie was offered four years ago.
On some level it stung, and on some level I was not surprised, "Rimes admits to Wifrey as quoted by Us Weekly. When people show you who they are, believe them. I carry that with me a lot. It has served me well."
Izzie Stevens left Seattle Grace Mercy West in 2010, but Heigl has reportedly expressed her desire to return to the show to close out her characters story.
Heigl expressed her desire to return to the hit drama in January to E! News, "I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie Stevens] is. I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she's doing now. My idea is that she actually, like, figures it out, and finds some success and does really well in a different hospital."
However, Us Weekly reports that Rimes appreciates the idea that Heigl has shown respect for the show, but notes, We are on a track we have been planning. The idea of changing that track is not something we are interested in right now."
Would you want to see Heigl return to Greys?
Rimes' interview with Oprah airs Dec. 9.
