American TV tycoon Oprah Winfrey received a rapturous reception from a sold-out crowd in Saskatoon last night.

"So great to see you on a Sunday night in Saskatoon," Winfrey said as she stepped onstage at Credit Union Centre.

For the next two hours, she had 14,000 people in the audience in the palm of her hand.

They clapped, cheered and wept as she delivered life lessons and personal stories.

Among those in the audience was Marva Angela-Walker who drove in from Regina to catch the show.

"Amazing. I was so happy that I was able to come here," she said. "It was phenomenal."

Superfan Rachelle Nieman recorded the show on her cell phone, so she could go back and listen to Winfrey's wisdom again later.

"What I'll learn a lot from here is that it's just about your purpose and about knowing and recognizing your purpose," she said.

Ticket prices ranged from $59 to $169 (plus taxes and fees). Seeing one of the most famous women in the world in person was worth every penny, Nieman said.
