David Letterman to return to campus in November with Oprah Winfrey

Biz Stone. Rachel Maddow. And now, Oprah Winfrey.

David Letterman has brought some of the biggest names in media over the past three years. This year, he has invited Winfrey to his alma mater for another conversation.

We dont know what theyll talk about, said Tom Taylor, vice president for Enrollment, Marketing and Communications. Thats part of the joy for me. Dave really drives the conversation.

At 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, the television duo will speak as part of the David Letterman Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series, according to a university press release.

Winfrey aired her final show on May 25, 2011. She currently publishes O, The Oprah Magazine, and is CEO and CCO of the Oprah Winfrey Network, among other ventures.

On why Winfrey was chosen for the event, Taylor said it wasnt up to him.

This is really Daves doing, he said. They work their magic on their end.

Tickets to the event are free, but must be picked up in advance before the show. They will be available to students at 9 a.m. Nov. 7 at the John R. Emens Auditorium box office. Ball State faculty and staff may pick up tickets at 9 a.m. Nov. 8. The general public may do so at 9 a.m. the next day, Nov. 9.
