Winfrey replied: "Tried. She said no."
In June, Hill pleaded guilty to three counts of tax evasion, and faces up to three years in prison and $75,000 (47,800) in fines after she admitted that she "intentionally and willingly" failed to file tax returns for three different years - 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Hill gained critical praise for her 1998 record The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
During Rihanna's sit-down interview with Winfrey, she revealed that she will always love Chris Brown.
She explained: "We've built a trust again and that's it. We love each other and we probably always will."
