Ken McGagh, Wicked LocalTV talk show queen Oprah Winfrey spent over an hour shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond in Framingham Thursday, but there were no incidents of screaming, fainting or cars being given away.
"I'm sure someone took a picture with their cellphone,'' said Ken Maynard, assistant manager of the ! Rte. 9 s tore, but "Everyone did keep their distance, he told MetroWest Daily News.
"She was just doing some shopping."
"Just like you and I, they want to shop.'' And customers respected the privacy of Oprah's entourage, he said.
Winfrey was with a group that included several young women and a personal security guard. The girls' identities remain a mystery, and Maynard declined to discuss what was purchased or how much the media mogul spent.
Why she was shopping in Framingham remains the biggest mystery of all.
"I didn't talk to her,'' said Maynard. "I just said, 'Hi.' ''
After checking out shortly after 4 p.m., Winfrey and her shopping companions "hopped in their big black SUV and left.''
While Maynard is more of a sports enthusiast than a daytime TV fan, "It was exciting'' to have Winfrey in the store, he said.
According to Oprah's twitter feed, the group finished their shopping at Target.
